My name is Dan, and I am an amateur wine enthusiast.
I was born in the Hunter Valley in 1986, and moved to Canberra with my wife in 2008. My wife created this blog for me on our first anniversary in October 2011. I have decided to use this blog to convey my wine story.
The internet is flooded with blogs and websites dedicated to the meticulous and scientific processes of rating, categorising, assessing and analysing wines; comparing vintages, varietals and styles. I am firmly of the belief that an amateur wine enthusiast adding their opinions to the pantheon of wine knowledge will add little to nothing of value, and be lost amongst the popular and authoritative opinions of established wine gurus.
I will use this blog to tell the stories that culminated in my own mild obsession with wine. While I will offer some basic critical appraisals along the way, the focus of each post will be on the story and the details that supported the experiences. Hopefully these experiences can be adapted to enhance your own enjoyment of exploring the world of wine.
